    HISTORY/MARKS:
The studio was located in Giesshubel, Bohemia, Austria, now Stružná, Czech Republic.  He used a beehive in blue for the overglaze mark.  From the book, Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain authored by Robert E. Rontgen, this is mark 1427 used in the 1890 - 1918 time period.  Josef Riedl was in business from 1890 until 1930. His porcelain decorating shop frequently used blanks from the Tirschenreuth Porcelain Factory and Moritz Zdekauer Porcelain Factory in Altrohlau, Austria.  The scenes were frequently romantic scenes from the Fragonard Love series.  Jean Honore Fragonard (1732-1806) was a French painter of the Rococo style which was used for production of fine porcelain by Vienna Porcelain Manufacturers.  ELW is Ernst Leitner Weltarbeit, an importer of fine porcelain.
