DESCRIPTION:
The beautiful smooth rim decorative nappy or lemon dish was decorated by a talented artist, H. O.  NY., featuring pink wild roses nestled in their green leaves.  There falling petals of pink roses and lighter green ghost leaves to give depth to the painting.  The artist used a green, pink, brown, black, grey and yellow color palette with gold.  The trim on the rim is a band of gold and the handle is painted with solid gold.
CONDITION:
While this nappy is classified as used, the condition is superb.  There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines.  There is no age appropriate wear to the gold.  See the photos.
DIMENSIONS:
The nappy has a diameter of 6 3/4" with a height of 1 3/4" to the top of the handle.
HISTORY/MARKS:
The mark on this tankard mug is that of Burley and Terrell who were importers of Bavarian items mainly from Hutschenreuther Company of Selb, Bavaria Germany.  www.mark4ceramics cites this mark as mark #1 which was used 1910-1930's. Both the “Favorite Bavaria” and “UNO Favorite Bavaria” were special export marks used by C.M. Hutschenreuther of Bavaria, Germany for Burley & Tyrrell of Chicago.  Hutschenreuther porcelain story began when Karl Magnus Hutschenreuther, 1793-1845, discovered kaolin in northeastern Bavaria in 1814 where he established his company.  His son Lorenz managed the Hohenberg porcelain factory from 1845-1857.  He founded his own Hutschenreuther Porcelain Company in Selb in 1856 which  became highly successful and 113 years later absorbed his father’s company.  All of the Hutschenreuther Companies were trend setters of high quality porcelain.  Hutschenreuther became known for the love of detail, distinctive brilliance of color, and lustrous beauty shown through the decorating of the fine porcelain pieces.
